[ARCHIVED] Traveling Exhibit - War of 1812 at the Glen Carbon Heritage Museum

The Glen Carbon Heritage Museum is hosting a traveling exhibit on the War of 1812. This exhibit is the culmination of work by 8th grade students who competed on a state level. Students were invited to submit a story board with an aspect of the War of 1812. Those story boards were then taken to Springfield for judging. Judges from the War of 1812 Society picked the very best and those story boards are now part of a traveling display to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. The Glen Carbon Heritage Museum considers itself very fortunate to the first Museum of the anniversary year to host 6 of the 11 story boards, plus a display of period clothing and weaponry. The display is open for viewing on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10am – 2pm the entire month of January. The address of the Museum is 124 School St., Glen Carbon, IL. Private tours for scouting groups and others can be arranged. Please call Museum Aide, Sheila Martin, at 618-288-7271 or email her at smartin@glen-carbon.il.us for more information.
