The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Village's 66 miles of roads and three recreational parks. Its duties include the following:

  • Storm Sewer Maintenance
  • Storm Sewer Repair
  • Curb Reconstruction
  • Curb Repair
  • Pothole Repair
  • Street Sweeping
  • Snow and Ice Removal
  • Ground Maintenance Operations
  • Sign Installation and Replacement

Street Operation and Maintenance is partially funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation's Motor Fuel Tax Program. Tax funds are derived from a tax on the privilege of operating motor vehicles upon public highways and recreational watercraft on the waters of Illinois. Funds are collected based on the consumption of motor fuel.
